Cohort fertility rate
It shows the average number of children of women aged 40, as at the beginning of the year.
The indicator is calculated by summing the number of children born to women in the cohort over their lifetime and dividing it by the number of living women in the cohort. A cohort is a group of women born in the same year. At 03.10.2023, the results have been recalculated, taking into account only women for whom the number of children is known.
The indicator is also a measure of performance in the ”Estonia 2035“ development strategy.
